A CONSULTANT NAMED BEN
After 27 years, it was time to dig into the first packaging redesign in Brooklyn Brewery history. Working with the great Milton Glaser, we updated Brooklyn sixpacks and cases to retake the brand's rightful place as a stand-out on the shelf.
We recruited Timberland to invest in the power of The Mash, giving the iconic clothing brand a platform to tell their story, Made for the Modern Trail. On behalf of Timberland, Brooklyn designed a pop-up bar called the Trailhead and published a print and web Guide To Good Beer, powered by Timberland. Mash ticket holders followed the guide on a beer fueled Total Immersion of an emerging neighborhood that ended in a free concert.
In 2013, I created a multi-disciplinary cultural festival called The Mash. The aim was to match the energy and ideas from our creative community in Williamsburg to those of other major markets for Brooklyn Brewery. Over the last 5 years, The Mash has drawn thousands of beer fans and culture seekers to celebrate food, music, art, literature, comedy and beer from their community and Brooklyn's.
For this year's Mash, Brooklyn teamed up with one of the borough's best food producer's, McClure's. It was only natural to build an Extreme Bloody Mary Bar to show off the brand's mix and pickles. It was such a hit, it nearly overshadowed the beer. Nearly.
A key tool to selling craft beer has always been education. As video has become more important to the industry my team was given the mandate to create educational videos. Sounds great in theory but no matter how exciting beer can be, talking about it is pretty painful. Education is serious however, we chose to not take it that way in the resulting series: Know Your Beer. Follow the link below to learn. And smile. And get thirsty.
The beloved hot sauce brand was impressed by Brooklyn Brewery's open approach to beer pairings and thought that joining our team would open people's minds to using their flavorful product on more than just Mexican food. We launched a multi-pronged campaign which integrated Cholula into Beer Mansion, an interactive beer festival and paired them with our beers in supermarket samplings hosted by our House Chef. We went High and Low and everyone went home satisfied.
